EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION REPROCESSING (EMDR)

Building self-confidence and creating a purposeful and meaningful life.

Healing Trauma with EMDR

Life's challenges can feel dark, heavy, or even impossible to deal with. Most people who start Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) feel trapped in painful and distressing memories. Perhaps you can relate. Maybe you feel disconnected from friends and family, unable to concentrate, become easily distressed, or find yourself feeling stuck in the past.

EMDR therapy helps you rise above your challenges and start moving towards your ideal life with less fear and more safety, less sadness and more joy, less doubt and more strength.

DO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING RESONATE WITH YOU?

If these sound true for you, I want you to know that what you are going through is normal and you are not alone. Healing is possible with the right support and guidance. Acknowledging you are worthy of healing is incredibly powerful. Taking responsibility for your healing is a selfless act and the greatest gift you can give yourself.

You will find EMDR therapy can help you achieve positive personal growth, empowerment, authenticity, and a fulfilling life.

• Figure out who you are when you are no longer consumed by your past harmful experiences.

• Learn how to trust yourself and feel safe.

• Learn how to care for yourself, which in turn will allow you to care for others.

• Develop ways to manage intrusive and distressing thoughts, memories, and emotions.

• Change your mindset from victim to survivor to thriver.

Even if you've never shared your traumas with anyone before, EMDR therapy has been found to be a less intrusive treatment for addressing trauma and is client-led. Perhaps you’ve tried traditional talk therapy and didn’t experience emotional relief.  With the assistance of EMDR therapy you can become unstuck from disturbing memories, find emotional relief, and gain a new perspective.

I've helped many adults feel relief after processing their traumas utilizing EMDR. Through EMDR my clients felt empowered, peace, and satisfied with their new outlook on their past traumas that have kept them trapped for so long. They gained clarity, inner strength, and courage to heal from within.

How EMDR Therapy Works

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) consists of eight phases. Eye movements (or other bilateral stimulation) are used at different times during the process. Once you begin EMDR, the sessions can range from 50-75 minutes in duration. Weekly one-on-one sessions help you work through your concerns and begin to find relief in a few sessions. I play an active and collaborative role in your healing journey. Here’s how it will work step-by-step:

01.

First, I provide a safe, accepting space so you will feel comfortable sharing your struggles with me.

02.

Through hearing your story, I will start to get a picture of what your challenges are, find targets to process in EMDR, and develop a treatment plan.

03.

I will assess your readiness to begin EMDR therapy and ensure it is an appropriate fit for you and your treatment goals.

04.

We will ensure you have adequate methods for managing emotional distress.

05.

Through the 8 Phase EMDR Protocol, attention will focus on negative beliefs, images, emotions, and body sensations associated with unresolved life events.

06.

You will monitor any distressing emotions, thoughts, or body sensations that may linger after the session.

07.

The last phase consists of preparing for any future events that will require adaptive responses.

08.

During the course of treatment, you will begin to experience relief and gain progress towards the life you desire.

Research shows that Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) can positively change your thinking, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. It can help you let go of what’s been holding you back.
